UPDATE: Collision closes Highway 102

Sunday morning crash closes Highway 102, downs power lines, but no serious injuries reported.

THUNDER BAY -- No serious injuries were reported after a transport truck crashed on highway 102 near Denbury Road, about 15 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.

The crash closed Highway 102 between Mapleward Road and Sistonen's Corners for several hours Sunday.

The highway had reopened to alternating traffic around 2 p.m., OPP reported.

The transport had been travelling eastbound and appeared to have lost control coming around a curve just before 9 a.m. Sunday, nearby residents said. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The crash downed hydro lines in the area, with crews still working to restore power in the area late Sunday morning.
