Collision closes James Street

Male charged with impaired driving after head-on collision sends one to hospital on Thursday night.

A two-vehicle collision on James Street on Thursday, March 16, 2017 left both heavily damaged (Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com).

THUNDER BAY – A two-vehicle head-on collision forced city police on Thursday night to close a section of James Street.

Both vehicles, a pick-up truck and a passenger car, sustained heavy damage in the collision, which occurred east of Conestoga Street, across from a strip mall.

The Thunder Bay Police Service’s traffic investigation unit was on scene, and in a release said one driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Police blamed the crash on a vehicle crossing the centre lane  A male driver has been charged with impaired driving  

The incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m.

James Street was also closed at Edward Street.
