Collision knocked out electricity in rural area

THUNDER BAY — Close to 900 Hydro One customers north of the city were impacted by a power outage Sunday afternoon,

The utility reported on its website that the outage was caused by a motor vehicle accident in Lappe that resulted in a damaged pole.

A crew was called to replace the pole at the intersection of Kam Current Road and Dog Lake Road.

The outage impacted customers in Gorham and Jacques Townships for five-and-a-half hours.

OPP have not yet released details of the collision including whether anyone was hurt.
