Collision leads to impaired charges

OPP respond to a single vehicle collision which resulted in impaired driving charges.

RED LAKE, Ont. – A 22-year-old is facing impaired driving charges after she was involved in a single vehicle collision on Nungessor Road.

Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Sept. 4 around 11 p.m. on Nungessor Road, about 55 kilometres North of Red Lake.

Officers located a single motor vehicle and made contact with the driver, who was asleep in the driver’s seat.

According to a release, police arrested the driver for operation while impaired and was returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old from Pikangikum was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams of alcohol.

The driver was released by way of a promise to appear in red Lake court on Oct. 17 to answer to the charges.

Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundment, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don't drink and drive.
