Collision south of Dryden kills one

Three taken to hospital after single vehicle leaves roadway, hits rock face.

DRYDEN, Ont.  – A single-vehicle collision south of Dryden, Ont. has left one person dead.

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release issued on Monday, said the vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 502 left the roadway and hit a rock face, at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday. 

Three occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment. Only two survived.

A small bush fire resulting from the crash was extinguished before emergency crews arrived.

The OPP’s technical traffic collision investigation unit was brought in and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The highway was closed for approximately five hours.

Police have not released the identity of the victim of the crash.
