A well-known member of the Thunder Bay broadcasting community has died. Ron Bottos passed away this weekend at St. Joseph's Hospice. Bottos was a highly popular announcer on CKPR radio for many years.

A well-known member of the Thunder Bay broadcasting community has died.

Ron Bottos passed away this weekend at St. Joseph's Hospice.

Bottos was a highly popular announcer on CKPR radio for many years. He was also popular in front of the camera, serving as host of the long-running quiz show "Reach for the Top" and the annual Mothers Day CF Telethon.

Bottos was active in the local musical community, performing for years with the band StoneRidge and was well known in the local construction industry.

He was 71 years old.
