THUNDER BAY -- Families, friends, parents and communities will come together on Thursday afternoon to celebrate the life of Tammy Keeash, who was only 17-years-old when her body was discovered earlier this month in the Neebing McIntyre Floodway.
Love, compassion, empathy, accountability and empowerment will guide community members from city hall at 1 p.m. to the Thunder Bay Police Service station, with some stops along the way.
Police, in a release issued Wednesday afternoon, said the walk is expected to cause some traffic disruptions, especially along Balmoral Street from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Police are asking the public to use caution in the area or choose a different route as several pedestrians are expected to be involved in the walk.
Participants are encouraged to park at the Grassroots Church on Balmoral Avenue and city buses will transport people to city hall from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The walk’s purpose is to celebrate Keeash’s life and raise awareness to begin the healing process.
