A veteran Thunder Bay political figure is taking on a new role.

Former Thunder Bay – Superior North MP Joe Comuzzi has been appointed to the International Joint Commission.

He replaces high-profile Liberal appointee Herb Gray on the body. The IJC is an independent, binational organization established by the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909.

Comuzzi said he is excited about the new opportunity and has some objectives in mind.

Comuzzi added that there is a possibility he may be appointed Canadian Chair of the committee. If that happens, he says it would force him to permanently relocate to Ottawa.
