THUNDER BAY -- Confederation College is turning fifty this year and they're celebrating the milestone a little bit differently, with a travelling birthday party.

College officials will be making 50 stops and their first one was at Tbaytel, a long time college partner and hiring source for its alumni.

Employees were able to celebrate Confederation's 50th birthday in the Tbaytel lunchroom and it was much like any birthday party, with cupcakes and pizza.

The staff even signed a special Birthday book.

Confederation college alumni and Tbaytel employee Nick Lento says it was great to connect with old classmates he no longer gets to see.

“This is great,” Lento said. “It’s nice to see the college and Tbaytel coming out for this event and it’s just nice to keep the partnership going and meet a lot of people you’ve met in the past.”

Confederation College manager of advancement Dana Levanto said it’s great to see the alumni in their work place.

“We want to see people succeed in the careers that they built as a result of their education at the college and just sort of let people know that it’s not just about the college itself…it’s about the community as a whole.”

The party has just begun and will continue throughout the year, as this travelling party will keep making stops on its route across the region.
