Confederation College students net broadcasting awards

Confederation College’s broadcasting program was awarded national recognition this past weekend. Faculty and students attended the Broadcasters Educators Association of Canada Awards in Banff, Alta.

Confederation College’s broadcasting program was awarded national recognition this past weekend.

Faculty and students attended the Broadcasters Educators Association of Canada Awards in Banff, Alta., May 25 and walked away with first place in the Audio PSA category and the President’s Award for the public service announcement Noise Pollution created by student Curtis Gee.

Gee said the new facilities and related program at the college provide the impetus for the project.

“Working in the newest facilities with the latest technology and combined with the dedication of the faculty, really supports a student to do their best,” he said.

Broadcasting program coordinator Michele McManus said the President’s Awards are selected from all the winners.

“They are truly the best of the best and we are very pleased that in the first year of operating our web station, we have been recognized in the audio category,” she said.

Confederation College placed first in a total of three categories.
