Drivers can now expect delays on May Street.
Road crews are preparing to start work on the May Street bridge for reconstruction this week. The street has been reduced to two lanes from Northern Avenue to Ogden Street.
The original plan was to close the entire four-lane bridge for the duration of the rehabilitation, but the majority of business owners in the area convinced city council to keep it to a partial closure.
The tearing up of the roadway is expected to begin today.
Thunder Bay Police Service officials say they will be enforcing the reduced 30-kilometre an hour speed limit in the area during the five-month construction period.
