City Council is set to award the contract for a new Superior North EMS headquarters.

The contract will come before Council Monday night and it contains savings of more than $1 million from the original estimate.

The project slated for construction on Junot Avenue was originally expected to cost about $11.5 million. The total cost of the facility is now expected to come in around $10.3 million.

The project should get underway this spring. Council will also approve the Infrastructure Stimulus Deadline Extension. Senior levels of government have pushed the deadline back to Oct. 31.

All projects are expected to be completed in advance of the deadline, with the exception of the Waterfront, which will require the full extension.

There will also be a review of the 2010 Municipal Election and the steps that can be implemented to reduce barriers to voters accessing the ballots.
