EDMONTON -- A woman originally from a Northwestern Ontario First Nations community convicted of murdering her cousin is back in custody after escaping from an Alberta correctional facility.
Kecia Spade, who was 19 at the time of the 2009 stabbing death of 18-year-old Mariah Wesley, had on Saturday been seen by staff at the minimum-security Buffalo Sage Wellness House leaving the Edmonton property.
She has since been apprehended by Edmonton police, according to the Correctional Service of Canada.
Spade, originally from Mishkeegogamang First Nation, was sentenced to life in prison with a parole ineligibility period of 10 years.
