UPDATED: Cop car flips in south-side crash

Police vehicle involved in Friday evening collision at Walsh and Edward streets.

THUNDER BAY -- A Thunder Bay Police Service cruiser was flipped on its side after a Friday evening collision at the intersection of Walsh and Edward streets.

Both vehicles appeared to sustain heavy damage in the crash, which neighbours said occurred at about 8 p.m.

Police blocked off sections of both streets surrounding the crash site. The intersection was reopened to traffic early Saturday morning.

A police release states the collision resulted in only minor injuries, though police were not able to provide any additional details Saturday. An officer on scene had indicated they believed the police officer involved was OK.
