Blowing a red light in front of a police officer proved to be the downfall of a suspected impaired driver Friday morning.
A police officer with the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP stopped at a red light near John Street and Highway 11/17 around 1 a.m. While stopped the officer noticed a man driving a minivan go through the traffic light.
Police say the officer stopped the vehicle, and could immediately detect an alcohol-like odor coming from the man’s vehicle.
After taking a breath sample police charged a 63-year-old Thunder Bay man for impaired driving. The suspect has a court date in April.
