The 14th Annual Cops for Cancer event was launched earlier Tuesday in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Hundreds of police officers from across the province are expected to participate in the event. They will be joined by other members of the community at the Intercity Shopping Centre on May 8, who have also agreed to shave their heads. 15 year old Jarvis Ritch kicked off the event by being the first one to shave his head. Dana Levanto with the Canadian Cancer Society said cancer has touched almost everyone in some way or another, so it's nice to see the support.

To date, Cops for Cancer has raised more than $37 million across Canada with $450,000 raised here in Thunder Bay.
