After more than two years, the city has a plan to erase its graffiti problem.

Council approved a pilot project Monday night that includes a strategic plan, a tracking database and even a hotline number to deal with the problem.

There is also a $50 subsidy available for private property valued under $400,000 to clean up graffiti.

The city would like to see hate, racist or otherwise offensive graffiti removed within 48 hours, a week for large amounts in highly visible areas and two weeks for any other graffiti.

“The number one deterrent of graffiti is to get it down quickly,” Coun. Andrew Foulds said.
