City council spent no time in public approving three new positions for its fire department.
Councillors approved the positions, which will bring Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue personnel up to 213 people, without any debate before going into a closed session on the matter for 35 minutes. The expected annual costs of the positions is $378,000.
Renovations to the former Bank of Montreal building inside Victoriaville were also passed for $1.98 million.
The contract, awarded to Aurora Construction will house the city’s court services division, parking authority and build a centralized cashier in the city’s Victoriaville Civic Centre.
