The Thunder Bay Airport Authority will come before city council Monday night to look for changes to allow for the development of a proposed hotel on its property.
Some residents in the surrounding area have raised concerns about the development.
The overriding issues involve the creation of an additional intersection on Arthur Street for the hotel, and increased traffic.
Administration is recommending the approval of amendments to the official plan and zoning bylaws to allow for the commercial development.
The airport authority has been approached by Hilton Hampton Inn to construct a 75-unit hotel on the property.
Also at Monday night’s meeting, council is being asked to retain professional services to get the Renew Thunder Bay initiative into gear, specifically the Golf Links Road and Junot Avenue four-laning project.
The City hopes to leverage dollars from senior levels of government for the $18 million project.
