THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay city councillors will be looking at a funding request from Confederation College, and a report on the district social services board, at tonight's council meeting at city hall.

Confederation College made a request for $25,000 last November to help pay for the college's 50th anniversary celebrations this year.

Staff have looked over the request, and in a memo to council say they've added the option of funding the college's ask to the 2017 budget.

Meanwhile, staff have also prepared a report on the future of the Thunder Bay DSSAB.

For several years, DSSAB's Area 1 communities have said they should have more representatives at board level.

Area 1 includes O'Connor, Neebing, Conmee, Oliver Paipoonge, Gillies and Shuniah, and those municipalities say they deserve more than just one seat on the board.

The city of Thunder Bay currently has six seats on the 12-person board. No other area has more than one.
