THUNDER BAY – Councillors’ salaries and expenses will be going up for review at tonight’s meeting at city hall.

Municipal councils in Ontario are required by municipal law to receive an annual list of the salaries and expenses paid to each councillor.

Mayor Keith Hobbs was council's biggest earner in 2015, collecting $92,000 for his work as mayor, and spending just less than $9,000 on expenses.

In addition, council will be hearing from the city's waste management division on how closely the city is sticking to its official plan.
One of the city's identified goals is to encourage waste reduction, and perform a four-season waste audit.

Money for that audit has been included in the 2016 budget, and according to city staff, that audit should begin this summer.
