THUNDER BAY -- A change could be coming in the way the city handles licensing and regulation of restaurants and food trucks.
That discussion will take place tonight as city council meets at Thunder Bay City Hall tonight for a regular scheduled council and committee of the whole meeting. Councillors will review a request from the District Health Unit.
At present, public health inspection reports are only available if diners request them from the Health Unit.
The District Health Unit is asking the city to amend its bylaws to instead require health inspection reports to be displayed publicly.
Health unit officials say the change isn't significant, but would bring food trucks and restaurants in Thunder Bay in line with the best practices used in other major cities.
Meanwhile, council is also set to review a proposed change in the city's sign by-laws.
Staff have prepared a report on what options the city has for limiting or licensing flashing or animated electronic signs.
