Council preview: Major items pushed into the new year

Some major reports that were expected for Monday night's city council meeting have been pushed forward into the new year.

Some major reports that were expected for Monday night's city council meeting have been pushed forward into the new year.

Four reports, including truck traffic on Dawson Road and a management model for Prince Arthur's Landing will now come forward in 2012.

Possible ways of diverting transport truck traffic from Dawson Road to the new Shabaqua Highway first came to council in April.  A report on the matter is now expected next February.

Another major issue that was expected to be on the table Monday night will now be dealt with behind closed doors.

A report on the potential of selling one or more of the city-owned golf courses will be debated during an in-camera meeting.

The city looked at the issue in 2006 in an open session of council, but the city’s general manager of community services says that was a mistake because dollar figures were revealed.

Five years ago, the three city courses were appraised at a total of $4.5 million.

Also on Monday night, council will discuss the plans for Rick Hansen's visit to the city on his 25th anniversary tour.
