A new hotel proposed for Thunder Bay's Intercity area will be up for debate at city hall Monday night.
Southern Ontario based Thompson Centres Inc. will be looking for official plan and zoning bylaw amendments for a new hotel as well as a commercial development next door.
The commercial component includes a retail store and two restaurants.
Easton's Group of Hotels would like to construct a five-storey Marriott Hotel just south of the Real Canadian Superstore.
If Council approves the amendments, the company would likely begin construction this spring on the 142-room facility.
The President of Easton's Group of Hotels says the other developments would include a higher end restaurant and a Harvey's fast food chain.
In other council business, the Thunder Bay Protective and Emergency Services Training Corporation will be on hand during the meeting.
The group is looking for forgiveness of a $572,000 loan it received from the city in 2008.
They will also ask for financial assistance to create an indoor shooting range.
