THUNDER BAY -- More than $2.4 million worth of grants are looking for approval Monday night.
The largest amount under the sustaining grants portion of the city's community and cultural funding program would see more than $706,000 go to the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. The Thunder Bay Historical Museum would receive around $394,000, $258,000 for the Thunder Bay Art Gallery and $244,000 for the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
For community sustaining grants Shelter House is set to get $255,000 while $90,000 for the Regional Food Distribution Association, $51,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay and the Children's Aid Society Outreach Program's $67,000 would be new this year.
The largest operating grant for community funding would go to the Lakehead Social Planning Council for $30,000. As for youth funding Evergreen a United Neighbourhood would see $20,000 and $14,000 for the Community Arts and Heritage Project under cultural funding.
In total the city received 27 applications totaling more than $3 million for this year.
