After a two-week hiatus, Thunder Bay city council is scheduled to get back to business Monday night with a lengthy agenda.

Among the agenda items council is expected to face will be a decision on where to locate the long-term, temporary bus terminal in the south core.

The Thunder Bay Transit division will bring forward a recommendation to council to maintain the temporary on-street terminal at city hall for a period of two-to-three years. In late March, council had directed administration to study an alternate area in the vicinity of Violet, North and Miles streets.

According to the transit division, moving to that area would result in major capital costs and would negatively impact passenger safety, which could result in reduced transit ridership.

Council will also hear from officials with the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority who are looking for funding to make upgrades to their headquarters.

The request comes after a plan to construct a new facility fell through earlier this year.
Council will also be asked to award a contract worth $1.5 million for work at Innova Park. The project includes extensions of Innovation Drive and Premier way to improve access to the business park.

The contract also includes sewer and water extensions. The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is contributing $720,000 toward the project.
