With only a few more hours left in 2011, most New Year’s Eve revelers will be celebrating the beginning of 2012 with family and friends.

An entire year has passed and many who spoke with Tbnewswatch.com on Saturday said they wanted to start the New Year with family and friends. Staying home and watching the ball drop in Time Square was one of the more popular ways people decided to spend the evening.

Manfred Kehlenbeck said he was looking forward to watching a movie and taking it easy with his wife. He said he didn’t make resolutions but wished for good health for himself and all his family.

But not everyone wanted to stay home.

Vic Kwiatkowski said he was going to out on the town with his wife, two sons and daughter-in-law. They planned to go see a polish band play as part of their family tradition.

“They come in for Christmas and Easter,” Kwiatkowski said. “”We want to make New Year’s Eve special. It’s very important to spend time with family. It’s expensing because (my son and his wife) fly in from Ottawa but it’s in order to keep up our tradition.”

His New Year’s resolution of losing weight was the same as last year but he admitted he didn’t think he would be able to keep his commitment.

Kwiatkowski added he hoped to travel more so he could visit his son.

Kristine Wilcox, a Grace 12 student at Hammarskjold High School, said she was going to go to a party with some friends.

“I like New Years because you can start things anew,” Wilcox said. “My New Year’s resolution is doing better in school.”

Wilcox said she wanted to bring up her average in order to apply to Lakehead University.

One man, who didn’t wish to give his name, said he only wished for his wife to pull through. She was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year and he said he hoped 2012 was the year she beats it.
