THUNDER BAY – Country fans in Thunder Bay will have to wait another year to watch Toby Keith and Johnny Reid perform live on stage.

Organizers of the Country on the Bay music festival on Tuesday announced the festival, originally scheduled for 2020, has been pushed back another year until next summer.

The event is now scheduled to be held from July 22 to July 24, 2022 at Marina Park.

“We continue to work with government authorities but the uncertainty of restrictions for events in 2021 presents too large of a risk,” said co-organizer David Allen of Red Neck Productions.

Rob Waloschuk, of Dauphin CountryFest, said the pent-up demand for live music should make the 2022 event, the first for the festival, a hot ticket.

“We are confident our customers will bring boatloads of enthusiasm with them when the anchor drops at Marina Park for Country on the Bay 2022,” he said.

Organizers confirmed Keith and Reid will be atop the bill at next year’s event.

Any tickets already purchased for Country on the Bay will be honoured at the festival and ticket buyers in the coming weeks will be contacted about their options moving forward, including refunds.
