County Park splash pad could open soon

After sitting idle throughout last year's hot summer, it looks like the new splash pad in County Park will finally be open this season.

Crews with Nadin Contracting were on site Thursday, working to install a four-inch water line.

This will supply city water to the splash pad site, which it was supposed to have last year.  It's still unclear exactly when the splash pad is set to open, but crews began work this week and will continue until the job is complete.

City parks planner Werner Schwar says the city has encountered numerous issues over the past year, which have prevented the splash pad from opening.

He says it's been a frustrating situation and has definitely been a learning experience.
