THUNDER BAY - A Toronto man charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 will return to court Monday to set a date for a bail hearing.

Jaelan Sandiford, 25, appeared by audio in Thunder Bay bail court on Friday from the Thunder Bay district jail where he is currently being held.

Sandiford was arrested on Thursday, June 11, by Thunder Bay police after officers were dispatched to a home in the 200-block of Pearl Street just after 1:30 a.m. to check on the welfare of a resident.

Police learned there were a number of people inside of the home and found evidence that may have been used for drug trafficking.

Police said in a news release this may have been a case of a possible home takeover.

Duty counsel Aranka Golphy requested for Sandiford’s matter to return to court on Monday, June 15 to set a date for a bail hearing.
