THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reducing the hours for its COVID-19 call centre, citing decreased demand. The district has seen the number of new confirmed cases decline sharply in recent weeks, with only one new case announced since May 10.

As of Saturday, the call centre will reduce its Friday and weekend hours. It will now be open Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday.

The health unit said the reduced hours are due to a decrease in public demand.

The month of May saw COVID-19 numbers decline in the Thunder Bay district, with only five new confirmed cases announced. As of May 29, the health unit was reporting only one active case in the district, with all others considered resolved.
