MARATHON, Ont. – Public health authorities are working to identify close contacts after an individual associated with Holy Saviour Catholic School in Marathon tested positive for COVID-19.

The Superior North Catholic District School Board announced the news via its website Saturday, along with a note from Thunder Bay District medical officer of health, Dr. Janet DeMille.

Parents or caregivers of any students at the elementary school identified as close contacts would be contacted by early Sunday, DeMille stated. Other close contacts will also be contacted by health authorities.

“Anyone identified by public health as a close contact will be required to stay home and not return to the school setting until cleared by public health,” the school board said in a statement. “If you are not contacted, you or your child(ren) have not been identified as close contacts.”

Marathon had its first case of COVID-19 on Nov. 24.
