DRYDEN, Ont. — A positive case of COVID-19 has come to light at a public school in Dryden.
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board announced late Monday that it had received notification of a case that impacts Open Roads Public School.
The board said the case is being followed up by the Northwestern Health Unit.
All contacts of the affected individual are being called and are receiving instructions.
"We are working with NWHU to make sure all potential risks are minimized," the statement said.
It added that, in keeping with COVID-19 prevention strategies already in place, staff and students not contacted by public health are asked to self-monitor for symptoms of the virus, and can continue to attend school as usual.
It said everyone should use the government of Ontario’s school screening tool daily before attending school.
The NWHU also announced Tuesday morning that it has received reports of three new positive COVID-19 test results – two in the Dryden / Red Lake region and one in the Kenora region.
There are currently nine active cases in the NWHU's jurisdiction.
