THUNDER BAY – A person associated with Hammarskjold High School has tested positive for COVID-19, Lakehead Public Schools announced on Saturday.

Lakehead Public Schools is actively working with the TBDHU to investigate and manage any potential exposures in the school.

Using updated public health guidance, the TBDHU is identifying all those who would be considered a contact (high or low risk) of the individual with COVID-19.

Parents or caregivers of students in impacted classes or cohorts will be directly contacted by a public health professional to complete an assessment and will be provided with further instructions.  Any teachers, staff, visitors or any others who are impacted will also be contacted.

Anyone else in the school setting who is not specifically contacted by public health would not be considered at elevated risk because of this situation at this time. The full investigation will continue to unfold over the next few days.

Additional measures and actions will be taken as needed to manage the situation.
