THUNDER BAY - A COVID-19 case has been detected at St. Elizabeth School in Thunder Bay, impacting both a school and a bus cohort.

The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board was informed Saturday morning that an individual at the Selkirk Street elementary school had tested positive, it stated in a press release later the same day.

A school cohort associated with that individual will remain at home until cleared by public health following an investigation.

The situation also impacts a bus cohort, the school board said.

The board had contacted both cohorts to alert them to the exposure, it said, while the health unit would follow up to advise those in the bus cohort whether they are required to remain home from school or not.

Anyone else identified as a close contact will be contacted by the Thunder Bay Public Health Unit.

Anyone not identified as a close contact is not considered at elevated risk and does not require testing, the health unit advised.
