GERALDTON, Municipality of Greenstone, Ont. — Despite the discovery of two new infections, a COVID-19 outbreak in the northeastern part of the District of Thunder Bay continues to diminish.

Geraldton District Hospital reported on Tuesday that the active caseload in the area had fallen to 26, compared with 47 on Friday.

Two new cases in First Nations communities were offset by the resolution of three previous cases.

The Geraldton hospital obtains its data from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

The 26 active cases currently reported in Greenstone and surrounding First Nations is in marked contrast to the upwards of 60 cases that Long Lake 58 First Nation was dealing with earlier this month.

Its Chief and council declared a state of emergency at the end of May.
