****************************************

THUNDER BAY -- In keeping with recent provincial measures that went into effect at midnight Jan. 5 for at least 21 days until Jan. 26, the Sleeping Giant Folk Music Society is postponing its first concert of the new year, DRFTR & Sleepy Jean, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.

In light of the end date for these measures being subject to health and health system indicators and therefore the possibility of these or similar restrictions continuing beyond Jan. 26, 2022, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are also choosing to postpone their Canada-wide tour for a second time due to the pandemic.

Currently, Sleeping Giant Folk Music Society expects to reschedule both concerts but is not able to provide a time frame for either new date. It is also not clear if there may be further changes to the 2021/22 season.

Ticket holders for these two postponed concerts will be contacted directly with information regarding refunds.

Please bear in mind that no one is happy about this turn of events. These actions are to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and to prevent hospitals from becoming overwhelmed. The safety of our volunteers, audience, the musicians who grace our stage and our community at large is our priority.

We do however encourage you to find safe ways to support music and musicians until we can get back to in-person live concerts once again. Mark your calendars for the Andrew Collins Trio on March 26 and let’s all cross our fingers until then!
