THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has declared that the outbreak of COVID-19 at St. Joseph's Care Group's Hogarth Riverview Manor is now over.

The outbreak affected the Birch/Spruce Grove resident home area in the facility on Lillie Street.

It was first declared on Jan. 29, as required by provincial regulation, after a single staff member tested positive.

The TBDHU says that prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place at HRM to reduce the likelihood of the virus spreading further.

Expanded precautions were then implemented for the duration of the outbreak.

Since May 2020 the nursing home has seen a total of five outbreaks resolved without spreading beyond one positive case involving a staff member.
