THUNDER BAY – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Nanabijou Childcare Centre in Thunder Bay.

A second individual associated with the centre has tested positive and was deemed to have acquired their infection in the facility, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit stated Sunday in a release.

According to provincial guidelines, an outbreak is declared at a child care centre when two or more COVID-19 cases can be linked within the setting.

The centre can remain open, the health unit stated, while those identified as having had close contact with the cases will be required to remain home.

The health unit is working with Nanabijou to monitor the situation until the full risk period has passed, it said.
