RAINY RIVER, Ont. - The Northwestern Health Unit has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at an assisted living facility for seniors in Rainy River.

According to a statement from the NWHU, there are exposures of COVID-19 linked to Riverview Manor.

“The health unit is working closely with the Rainy River District Services Administration Board (RRDSAB), which operates the building, to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on residents and the surrounding community,” the NWHU said in a statement.

“NWHU has already done an inspection of the building and found that the control measures in place are very good.”

Anyone with symptoms is encouraged to get tested. Others who may not have symptoms but live in the facility should consider getting tested as well.

Only visitors who provide care or need to bring essential supplies such as food are permitted into the facility and all public health measures need to be followed.

Those interested in a test can call 807-274-3261, extension 6500 to book an appointment.
