COVID outbreak declared at Chartwell Thunder Bay retirement residence

The health unit says it is doing a thorough assessment.

THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at a Thunder Bay retirement residence.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit and residence management announced an outbreak at Chartwell Thunder Bay on Arundel Street on Monday morning.

Details such as the number of people who have tested positive were not released.

TBDHU said it has started a thorough assessment of the situation, and that additional measures will be implemented as needed to manage the situation.

A previous COVID-19 outbreak at Chartwell Thunder Bay  lasted from Feb. 14. to Mar. 8, 2022.

The health unit said that prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place to mitigate the risk of the virus being transmitted within the facility.
