CP train involved in collision near Sunshine

THUNDER BAY – A CP Rail train collided with a motor vehicle near Sunshine, Ont., northwest of Thunder Bay, on Thursday morning.

The incident did not result in any injuries requiring hospitalization, said a Superior North EMS representative.

A CP Rail spokesperson confirmed a train had "made contact with a vehicle" but did not provide further details.

The incident occurred on a side road near Highway 11/17 in the Sunshine area, OPP said.

Paramedics from the Superior North EMS base in Kakabeka responded and assessed passengers in a motor vehicle. Those involved declined to be taken to hospital for further assessment, the agency said.

Investigation of the incident is being handled by CP police, the OPP stated.
