CPR track reopens after Christmas Eve derailment

MARATHON, ON — Canadian Pacific Railway has reopened its main line north of Lake Superior, three days after a derailment west of Marathon

A CPR spokesperson told Tbnewswatch that traffic resumed early Thursday morning near Coldwell, just east of Neys Provincial Park.

Work crews were dispatched Monday afternoon when a freight train derailed.

The spokesperson did not disclose how many cars derailed or what they contained.

However, she said "there were no injuries and no threat to public safety."

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
