A crane operator working on a construction site near Fort Frances was sent to the hospital after the crane he was working in toppled over Monday.

Officers with the Rainy River District of the OPP and area emergency service workers responded to the industrial incident at the Noden Causeway, located just east of Fort Frances.

Workers are repairing a westbound lane there.

The 33-year-old crane operator was using the boom to lift a heavy object when the crane became unstable and toppled over, police said.

The man was then transported to an area hospital. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Officials with the Ministry of Labour have been notified and will be attending the work site.

Meanwhile, traffic on the Noden Causeway is open for travel.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
