A collision between two transport trucks led to the closure of a portion of Highway 17 for several hours late Wednesday morning.

OPP officers shutdown a portion of the highway just west of Vermillion Bay. Officers say one of the vehicles travelled along the westbound lane when the driver lost control, striking the other truck that was also in the westbound lane.

One of the transports was pushed off the road, while the other ended up blocking both lanes of traffic.

A van that had also been travelling westbound managed to avoid the wreck, but went off the road and struck a rock cut.

One person was injured as a result of the crash. One of the transport truck drivers suffered minor injuries.

It took three hours before traffic was allowed to move through the crash site.
