Police continue to investigate a snowmobile crash that killed a Fort Frances man Thursday.

OPP officers, Treaty 3 Police Service, Fort Frances Ambulance and Fire Department responded to the scene of a head-on crash around 8:30 p.m. The collision involved two snowmobiles.

Police say Aaron Hyatt, 33, of Fort Frances, died after the snowmobile he drove collided with a second snow machine on a trail north of School Road, which is located south of Highway 11 in Couchiching First Nations territory.

A female passenger and the male driver of the second snow machine were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An OPP Northwest Region Technical Traffic investigator and the Forensic Identification Unit assisted investigators at the scene.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
