Crash leads to impaired driving charges

A 19-year-old man now faces impaired driving charges after police responded to reports of a crash on Boundary Drive.

(THUNDER BAY, ON)- On October 1, 2016, at approximately 1:15 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Boundary Drive, in the Municipality of Neebing.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officer spoke to the driver and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was transported to the detachment for further tests.

A 19-year-old man from Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Township was arrested and charged with:

-Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,

-Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on December 13, 2016, to answer to the charges.
