Police identified the two victims of a fatal highway crash that took place Wednesday afternoon.
Raymond Buhr, 64, and Joann Buhr, 62, both of Geraldton, died after a passenger vehicle collided with a transport truck on Highway 17.
Kenora detachment OPP officers say the crash took place around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, about 1.5 kilometres east of Willard Lake Esso.
Police say the transport truck driver was heading west. After turning a corner the driver noticed a passenger vehicle heading east was in the westbound lane. Police say the driver of the transport truck was not able to avoid the crash.
Members of the OPP’s technical traffic collision investigation unit were called to assist with the investigation. Kenora fire and rescue also responded.
Highway 17 was closed following the crash so officers could investigate. The highway re-opened about four hours later after debris was removed.
