Crews quickly dispatch district's first forest fire of 2020

Fire broke out around Canadian Pacific Railway tracks near Pearl.

THUNDER BAY -- Local firefighters made quick work on the first forest fire of the season in the Thunder Bay District has recorded its first forest fire of the season. 

The bush fire broke out along the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks near Pearl, just before 3 p.m. on Monday.

It took about one hour for firefighters from Shuniah and Pass Lake, along with CP Rail crews and the Ministry of Natural Resources, to put it out. 

The blaze covered around two hectares. -- With files from TBT's Jonathan Wilson.
