Crime at Glance: 37 thefts, 10 weapons charges

Thunder Bay Police Service were slightly busier on the north side than the south side last week.

THUNDER BAY -- City police responded to more than 225 criminal incidents during the week of Monday, September 12 through Sunday, September 18.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

This week’s report shows police were slightly busier on the north side, responding to 116 criminal incidents compared to 109 cases south of the Harbour Expressway.

The more than 225 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

South of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:

• 9 assaults
• 9 break and enters
• 10 property crimes
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 7 weapons charges
• 12 thefts
• 4 sexual assaults

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:

• 10 assaults
• 3 break and enters
• 5 property crimes
• 25 thefts
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 6 thefts from vehicle
• 6 weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
